Due to the current situation regarding COVID 19, at
Central Orthodontics, we now have a backlog of patients waiting to be seen on the NHS. Currently, guidelines have advised patients on the NHS waiting list that there may be a longer wait than first expected.
Due to this, our current waiting is now approximately 5 years.
We understand this is disappointing news. However, the current situation is out of our hands. We do our utmost to see as many patients as soon as possible in line with current funding. Due to our current funding allocation, we are only able to see 500 NHS patients per year.
In April 2006 the NHS introduced a new dental contract which outlined new eligibility criteria for NHS
orthodontic treatment and a number of patients that can receive funding for orthodontic treatment each year. This limit of funding and changes in eligibility have left practices with more patients that their allocated funding provides for leading to extensive waiting lists.
As this is a longer waiting period, teeth may shift or move during this time. We want you to be aware before we treat your child that NHS treatment might not be available if the health need does not fit the criteria once they have reached the top of the waiting list. This is enforced with all orthodontists within the NHS.
We treat a number of Orthodontic Problems
These are some of the most common teeth issues, which are easily treatable.
Overjet
Do your front teeth stick out over your bottom teeth when you bite? This is known as overbite. Overbite can cause issues with chewing thus leading to digestion issues.
Reverse Overjet
Do your bottom teeth stick out under your top teeth when you bite? This is known as underbite. Overbite can also cause issues with chewing thus leading to digestion issues.
Open Bite
Open bite is when your teeth do not meet in the middle. This gives the appearance of an open mouth when you bite. This condition is easily treatable
Spacing
Spacing between the teeth can be an inconvenience, especially when eating, as it can cause food to get stuck and leads to poor oral health.
Crowding
Crowding is when teeth overlap each other. This can damage teeth and gums and can decrease self confidence due to their look. We can help with crowding.
Crossbite
Crossbite is when there is a lateral misalignment of the dental arches and the top teeth bite on the inside of the bottom teeth.
Private Braces
We are able to offer alternative
private treatment options, which can be discussed with our Orthodontic Therapists. We offer a range of different brace options such as
